Edith Hansen, Age 93, passed away on Thursday February 8, 2018. Edith was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 16, 1924. Edith lived in Baldwin, LI for 40 years where she raised her 5 children. She and her husband retired to Burdett in 1989. She is survived by her brother Warren (Aiko) Anderson of Venice, FL; five children; daughters, Jane (Fred) Jurnove of Delray Beach, FL, Alice and Betty Hansen of Watkins Glen, Kristina Hansen (Matt Pulis) of Hector; and son, Robert (Karen) Hansen of Burdett; seven grandchildren; Matthew (Diane) Jurnove, Jeanne (Jason) Paulaski, Daniel (Erin) Jurnove, Eric (Lexi) Hansen, Jeffrey Hansen, and Sam and Hannah Pulis; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin Jurnove, Jacob Paulaski, and Isaac and Ada Jurnove; one great-great grandchild, Jaxson Raymond. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Norman; parents, Hugo and Florence Anderson; and grandson Andrew Jurnove.
In Brooklyn, Edith and Norman belonged to the Rugby Congregational Church youth group whose members remarkably kept in touch and held frequent reunions throughout their lifetime. In retirement, Edith was a member of the Burdett Ladies’ Wednesday Afternoon Club. She was an avid reader and volunteered at the EB Pert Memorial Library.
