Arthur “Art” Joel Peck III, 75, of Breesport, NY, passed away unexpectedly on November 25, 2019.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in the spring.

Art was born on May 10, 1944 and was raised in Watkins Glen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Joel Peck Jr. and Margaret Hodges Peck Adams. He is survived by his adoring wife, Donna Colf Peck; son, AJ (Janel Barrows) Peck and their children, Emily and Allison; daughter, Cyndie (Kevin) Grove and their children Jacob, Toby, Alianna, Riley, Ethan, and Emmarae; and sisters, Grace Ann Pelino and Jean Swinnerton.

Art was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and member of Zereditha Lodge #451 in York, PA. From watching road races in Watkins Glen as a small boy to working on different race teams, Art spent a good portion of his life at the Watkins Glen racetrack. He began volunteering in various roles at Watkins Glen International more than 30 years ago. Most recently, he thoroughly enjoyed giving rides to WGI guests in the track pace cars and giving personal tours to Track VIPs. You could frequently see Art driving around the infield on his green golf cart. He was a Past District Governor, a Past Council Chair, a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, and a dedicated member and Past President of the Corning Lions Club. Art also enjoyed driving his “FRN2FRND” Porsche. He was fond of supporting the community through Lions Club, helping his family and friends, as well as sending out his daily jokes. He will be greatly missed by all who came into contact with him.

Tax deductible donations can be made in Art’s memory to Bampa’s House at PO Box 965, Corning, NY 14830.

You may leave a remembrance or express condolences online in his obituary at Arrangements entrusted to Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen (TEL: 607-535-4331).

Gail Cordes and I will truly miss Art. We, along with Donna, were partners in the Lions Club working to make the club better as well as the state and international organizations better. Art was one of my main campaign people as I ran for International Director. We spent many long days and nights on the road from easternmost Long Island to Niagara Falls on the campaign trail. I'll never forget when Art calling me from NY to California when won his own election to Council Chair. We were both so proud. I'll also never forget when we wee at the white dinner jacket, formal affair, testimonial of District Governor George Rabideau and Art forgot his formal shirt. He briefly came out of his room with the dinner jacket and no shirt, just his bare chest - almost like a Chip-n-Dale dancer!! We also had the wonderful opportunity to attend Lions Day At The United Nations when the 4 of us shared a suite at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in NYC. Great times, Great memories, Great friends. Our lives have been better due to Art Peck being part of them. Love you Man and miss you a lot!

Art always had a smile, a fun tale, or a kind thought to share. We are all so sorry for you Donna, AJ, and Cyndie. You have wonderful memories of a terrific guy.

There are no words to express how much Art meant to me. Art gave so much and never asked for anything in return. He helped Joe and I build our restaurant into what it is today. There is not a spot I look that Art was not a part of. His office is not your normal office it consisted of an electrical panel. I will miss our conversations. When he would come out to get his glass of iced tea in the kitchen he would ask me what I was cooking. He would make me feel good as he would let me know when I had prepared his lunch if I did an extra good job. Art would ask me how I would like things when joe and he were building. He just was a super amazing nice guy. I will miss seeing him walk through the door as he always had a smile and kind words. I will miss you Art!
