ELY, Albert W.

Age 86, of Burdett, NY, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the Peach Tree Nursing Facility, Ithaca, NY. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Burial and committal services will be held at the Hector Presbyterian Cemetery, Hector, NY. Albert was predeceased by his wife, Ruberta; children, Edward Ely and Sharon Gerh; and brother, Floyd Ely. He is survived by two grandchildren, Craig Gehr of Connecticut, and Melissa (Gerh) Deplanche of Kentucky. Also, nieces Mary (Ely) Moore and husband, David of Ithaca, Marie (Ely) Baumgardner and husband, Joseph of Burdett, Margaret (Ely) Ward and husband, Norman of Elmira; and nephew, David Ely and wife, Irina of Burdett. Born on March 9, 1921, to Ralph and Ina (Fenton) Ely, Albert was a lifelong resident of the Hector community and a descendent of one of the first families settling Hector after the Revolutionary War.
