Age 82, of Watkins Glen, peacefully entered God's Kingdom, surrounded by his loving family, on 12 June, 2012, after a courageous and lengthy battle with numerous medical issues. Al was born to Daniel J. Waite and Isabel Weed Waite, Nov. 2, 1929, in Watkins Glen, NY. Allan retired in 1993 as a Patrolman with the New York State Park Police in Watkins Glen after 38 years. In his early adult life, he worked for Shepard Niles Crane and Hoist Co. in Montour Falls for 14 years. He was a member of the Watkins Glen Fire Department, past president of the Watkins Glen Fire and Rescue Squad, volunteer with Seneca Santa, a former member of the American Legion Post 555 of Watkins Glen, and a former Boy Scout volunteer leader, and volunteer for the Schuyler County Board of Elections. He also was a 65-year member of the Watkins Glen United Methodist Church, where he served as former chairman of the Trustees Committee, and a member of the Finance Committee and the church Administration Board. He honorably served his county in Korea in 1951 with the U.S. Army's 5th Regimental Combat Team as a tank driver. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Daniel J. Waite, Jr., Harold E. Waite, and Douglas W. Waite; sisters, infant Helen M. Waite and Beverly Waite Hoyt; brothers-in-law, Richard Hoyt and Charles (Chuck) Richardson; sister-in-law, Lydia Waite; and aunt, Ruth Drake. A beloved husband, father and Papa, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia Drake Waite; children, Taryn (Ronald) Bath, Colonel Allan Phillip (Shelley) Waite, Jr, Tamre Waite, Robin (Frank) LaFace, Tanya (Brent) Chomyszak, and David (Elizabeth) Waite; grandchildren, Joshua (Missy) Waite, Nathan C. (Ann) Waite, Sr., Kristopher (Emily) Waite, Chelsea (Timothy) Tabisz, Lindsay Bath, Jonathan Bath, Travis Waite, Courtney Waite, Daniel Chomyszak, Isabella LaFace, and Giuseppe LaFace; and great-grandchildren, Sarai, Adeyna, Kyla, & Barrett Tabisz, N. Christian, Jr., Caleb, Charis and Carryn Waite, and Jacen Waite; beloved mother-in-law, Jean B. "Mom" Drake; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth R. Waite, Linda D. Richardson (David Costley), and Charlotte (Charles) Parmenter; brothers-in-law, Charles E. (Deborah) Drake, Jr., and Ernest M. (Josanne) Drake; aunt, Mildred C. Denson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, June 15, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen. A memorial service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 520 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Watkins Glen Fire Dept., Schuyler Co. Ambulance, Southern Tier Hospice or Watkins Glen PBA.
