Andrew J. Stivers

August 31, 1965 — December 30, 2024

Andrew J Stivers (“AJ”) died peacefully in Waterloo, NY on December 30, 2024. He was 59 years old.

AJ is survived by his siblings, Christina Gibson (David) of Auburn, NY; Elizabeth Fraboni (Bob) of Albuquerque, NM; and Martha Stivers-Lafler (Troy) of Canandaigua, NY. He also leaves behind a beloved extended family, including nieces and nephews: Abby Hadley (Todd) of Florida, Vanessa Malae (Ebann) of New Zealand, Keely Fraboni, Max Fraboni, and Wells Fraboni, all of New Mexico. He was a proud great-uncle to Malachi and Eliana Malae of New Zealand. Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, The Rev. Alton H. Stivers and Suzanne Messersmith Stivers.

Andrew was born on August 31, 1965 in Greenwich, CT. He grew up in the Finger Lakes, NY Region and graduated from Auburn High School in 1983. In 1984 he enrolled in the U.S. Navy and spent 4 years aboard the supercarrier USS America, as well as the guided missile destroyer USS Lawrence. After leaving the Navy, he settled in the Geneva area and held jobs with International Paper and Seneca Foods. AJ spent the past decade utilizing skills he learned in the Navy while working at the Canandaigua VA as a Certified Utility Systems Operator (Boiler Plant/Wastewater Treatment).

Andrew was generous with his time and was always happy to help friends and family members. He enjoyed a myriad of hobbies, including riding in local charity fundraisers on his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was an avid book reader and active member of the local library; a talented cook who enjoyed displaying his culinary skills to feed friends and family; held a lifelong love of the water and relished being in his kayak or boat with a dog and fishing rod by his side.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for this Spring – details to follow.
