Barbara Jean Osborn Age 70, of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 6, 2018 at her home in Irelandville. Barb was born in July of 1947 in Elmira, New York. Barb was raised predominantly in the Twin Tiers area. She LOVED warm weather, the beach and being outside doing anything, as long as it was warm. She loved hunting with family and tolerated the cold for a good venison dinner. Anyone who knew Barb, knew she was a good soul. Her generosity and reserved nature were a blessing to anyone who knew her. If you ever received groceries on your porch, clothes in your car or an anonymous need filed, it might have been her doing. If she was aware of a need, she would always try to help. Barb was a single mom for many years, until meeting her soul mate, Bob Osborn. They married in 1982. They blended families and lived in Rock Stream, until Bob’s passing in 2007. Barb was a great wife and determined Mom. She taught her kids to always be aware of the needs of others. She also believed firmly in the importance of thank you notes. Barb worked many years at Schuyler Hospital in various positions until retiring shortly after Bob’s passing. She had a much needed sabbatical in Florida to visit with her brother, Danny. She returned to Watkins and volunteered part time at Sangary Kennels in Rock Stream. Barb always said this would be her dream job. Barb valued her friendships and regularly met with friends for lunch. She had close friendships that spanned over 40 years. She will be missed deeply.
Barb is survived by her devoted, youngest son, Brian Westlake - Watkins Glen, NY; step-children, Robert Osborn (Tina Fesperman) - Oklahoma, Colleen Osborn – North Carolina, David (Julie) - Arizona and their sons, Dan, Rob and Lisa Osborn - California. Also, her brother, Daniel Hanlon - Florida, grandchildren, Damion Westlake – New York, Olivia Hanlon - New York, PJ Hanlon –New York. She is predeceased by her loyal son, Phillip Hanlon and loving husband of 25 years, Robert (Bob) Osborn. There will be a celebration of Barb’s life later in August.
