Beverly VanSkiver
Age 86, of Horseheads, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 14, 2015. Beverly worked as a Registered Nurse for many years and retired from Corning Hospital. Beverly was born in Corning, the daughter of Charles and Leona Blank. She was the 8th of 11 children. She was predeceased by her parents and eight siblings, Harold, Basil, Shirley, Virginia, Sidney, Charles, Keith and June. She is survived by her loving husband, Bernard “Bernie” VanSkiver; four children, Cynthia (Fran) Schoffner of Burdett, Sylvia Miller of Lockport, B. Stephen (April) VanSkiver of Chesapeake, VA, Curtis VanSkiver of Monterey; two brother, Elwin (Joyce) Blank of Burdett, and Paul Blank of Beaver Dams; six grandchildren, Bridgette Searles, Brennen Riddick, Tamarynde Cacciotti, Lysette Miller, Amber Johnson, and Daniel VanSkiver; and eight great-grandchildren. Beverly enjoyed many hobbies, including sewing, cross-stitching, gardening, berry picking, baking, playing piano, swimming, and camping. She especially enjoyed teaching her enjoyments to her grandchildren. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, NY on Thursday (August 20th) from 12:00pm-1:00pm; followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
