Bon Edwards
Age 73, of Montour Falls, NY, died peacefully at Bethany Manor on May 25, 2012, surrounded by his wife and children. Bon was born April 2, 1939 in Anna, Illinois, son of Bon and Freda Edwards. He lived most of his life in the Chicagoland area, attended Murray State College and Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a gifted athlete, trying out for both the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox, leaving that legacy to his children and grandchildren. His sense of humor and extroverted nature were traits that not only won him friends wherever he lived but contributed to his successful vocation as a heavy equipment salesman. In later years he followed his wife back to her roots in the Southern Tier. Bon’s love was his children, his many dogs, and competitive sports. Bon is survived by his wife of 39 years Diane Walker Edwards, his children Sandi (Scott) Foster of Maryland, Amy (Pat) Galloway of Wisconsin, Nicole Edwards of Florida, and Jon Edwards of Montour Falls, his sister Carol Delso of Illinois, grandchildren Andrea and Sam Galloway, mother-in-law Doris Walker of Elmira, aunt Joyce Klosterhoff of Illinois, and brothers-in-law Ernie (Connie) Walker of Dryden and Bob (Debbie Kraemer) Walker of Vermont, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bon and his family are grateful that his last few days were in the comfort and care of the staff at Bethany Skilled Three and Southern Tier Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home in Watkins Glen; there are no calling hours and a celebration of Bon’s life will be private at the family’s convenience. Contributions may be made to Southern Tier Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. You express condolences or sign a guestbook online at www.Royce-Chedzoy.com.
