Charles Potter

December 31, 1969 — November 26, 2009

Charles Lyman (Bud) Potter Jr., 75 of Valois, NY passed quietly into the arms of our Lord in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009 at the home of his daughter in Maineville, OH and surrounded by many members of his loving family. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lela Scaptura Potter, sons and daughters –in- law Jim and Linda Potter and Rick and Ann Marie Potter of North Carolina, daughter and son-in-law Mary Jo and Mike Gates of Ohio, grandchildren Alexandria (Matthew) Oblinsky of Georgia, Jake, Jaimie, Nikki and Richard Potter of North Carolina, Christine, Elizabeth and Matthew Gates of Ohio, mother-in-law Marian Scaptura of Watkins Glen, sister Joan (John) O’Mara of Honeoye Falls, NY and sister-in-law Lana Potter of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brother John Potter.

Charles, Bud or Buddy was an ever so wonderful husband, father and grandfather, a friend to all of those he met and not a cross word could be said of the way he lived his life and faith. A member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church in Watkins and retired from IBM Corp. after a 37 year career as an engineer, Bud enjoyed his retirement years golfing with friends, tennis with cousins, ‘projects’ around the house and “gorgeous” summer days with his family on Seneca Lake.

Services will be held at St Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church in Watkins Glen, Monday November 30th with visitation prior to services from 10-11 am at the Link, followed by a funeral mass at 11am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St Mary’s Catholic Church or to the Hector-Valois-Logan Volunteer Fire Department. You may sign a memorial guestbook or “Light A Candle” in his memory online at www.Royce-Chedzoy.com. Arrangements by Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
