Age 41, of Watkins Glen, left his loved ones on Thursday, November 15, 2012 as a result of a helicopter accident in Corning, NY. Friends and family are invited to call Monday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. Fourth St., Watkins Glen. Funeral services will be held at 8:00pm. Dale graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1990, and married his wife Brenda a year later. Together, they have three children. Dale built his family a beautiful home and cherished every minute that he spent with them. Dale worked as a LineMan for NYSEG. Dale spent every weekend at a race track with his family cheering on Dale's youngest child, Kendale. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 21 years, Brenda Crout; daughters, Erica (Joseph) Westervelt, and Courtney Crout; son, Kendale Crout; sisters, Marcia Crout (Dave Barber), Becky Sue Bianco, of Montour Falls; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Sandra VanHorn; father-in-law, Tom Pastrick; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Ernest “Sonny” Crout, mother Wilma (Rinker) Crout, brother, Walter L. Crout, paternal grandparents, Ernest W. and Josie Crout, and maternal grandparents, Frank and Alma Rinker. Dale was a hard worker that always put family first. He loved his family more than anything in life and he touched everyone he met. When talking about his family, you always saw a sparkle in his eye that showed the love he had for them. Dale built what his family calls "Crout Plantations" with his own hands and his family is more proud of him than he ever knew. He will be missed more than words can express and whenever we hear the roar of a racing engine, we for sure will know it is Dale behind the wheel.
