Dale W. VanWormer, Sr

December 31, 1969 — June 1, 2016

Dale William VanWormer Sr., 52, of Montour Falls NY, died unexpectedly on June 1, 2016, at his residence in Montour Falls, after suffering a long series of medical problems for many years. There are no prior visitation hours. The family will be present to receive friends and relatives at a Requiem Holy Eucharist service in Dales memory to be be celebrated at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Watkins Glen, at 10:30AM on Friday, June 10th. Dale was born in Lancaster, California to Norvelle and Violet VanWormer, who later moved to Trumansburg N.Y, where he attended school. After high school, Dale worked with several contractors and began his own career as a carpenter. He became well known for his skill and his ability to fix almost anything. He also worked as a contractor and a salesman during his lifetime. His passion for building was only surpassed by his love for his pets and especially for his only son, Dale Jr. He very much enjoyed cooking, in which he was primarily self-taught. He prided himself on creating unique recipes, his grilling technique, and also in perfecting traditional meals such as the Sunday Roast. He will always be remembered for preparing these delicious meals and sharing them with his family and friends. Dale is survived by his son, Dale Jr.; father, Norvelle “Bud”; mother, Violet; brothers, Larry, Ronnie, and Clinton; and sister, Nancy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Dale is predeceased in death by his wife Deb; and brothers, Glen and David. You may express condolences to the family or "Light a Candle of Remembrance" online at www.RoyceChedzoy.com. Arrangements by Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
