David “Butch L. Wilbur, Jr.
Age 76, of Watkins Glen, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 20, 2024.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Wednesday (Sept. 25th) from 4pm-6pm; a brief prayer service will be held at 6pm. A private graveside funeral service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Donna Wilbur; children Charles Wilbur of North Carolina; Timothy (Robyn) Wilbur of Florida; David (Julie) Wilbur of Watkins Glen, Suzanne Shea of Montour Falls, Joel Wilbur of Rochester; step-son Jeff (Jill) Denmark of Rock Stream; grandchildren, Alisa, Amanda, Jordan (Kendra), Jazmin, Jeffrey (Tiffany), Cameron, Landon, Zach, and Brighton; three great-grandchildren, Mirabelle, Jackson, and Micah; brother Richard Wilbur of Binghamton; sisters Nancy Pratt of Watkins Glen; Deborah (John) Brame of Watkins Glen; mother-in-law Norma Schenck of Dundee; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Schenck and Lori (Bill) Edmister, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, David and Florence Wilbur; wife Linda Wilbur; brother-in-law, Jack Pratt and nephew, John Pratt, and father-in-law, George Schenck.
He worked for AKZO-NOBLE. He was a lifelong farmer, operating the 4 generational family farm in Watkins Glen until 2016. His other passions included competing in draft horse pulling competitions around the country, along with his dad and son. His world revolved around his family and grandchildren. Butch had a contagious laugh and smile that lit up the room. He could always be seen on his front porch waving and greeting everyone with a smile and “How ya’ doin?”, even if he didn’t know them.
