Donald B. Friends

 Age 74, of Willseyville, NY, passed away unexpectedly Monday Feb. 5, 2024.  

He was born in Elmira, NY on October 8, 1949, the son of Lewis and Mary (Sims) Friends.  He was predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife Denise; children, Charlie (Amanda) Friends of Cayuta, Amy (Mitch) Gleckner of Pine City; Becky Strong (Jim) of Willseyville; brother Henry Friends of Elmira; brother-in-law David Wilson of Phelps; 10 grandchildren, Shelby, Daniel (Caitlyn), Sean, Kori, Madisyn, Jake, Cole, JulieAnn, Xander, and Jocelyn; , and two great-granddaughters, Macie and Kinsley; special nephew Josh; and several other nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces.  

The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4^th St., Watkins Glen on Saturday (Feb. 10^th) from 2pm-4pm; followed by a memorial service with military honors at 4pm; a reception will be announced.

He worked for various companies in Elmira and Tompkins County.  He retired from Chemung County Transit.  

Donald graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1969 and was immediately drafted in the US Army, honorably serving in Vietnam.  He loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and cornhole.
