ROBERTSON, Dorothy Rose
Age 87, of Burdett, NY, passed away in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 14, 2008.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial and committal services will immediately follow at the Union Cemetery of Hector, Burdett, NY.
She was born March 24, 1921 in the city of Corning to the late Ethel Miles and Andrew McIntyre. She was predeceased by her cherished and loving husband of 59 years, Harry Frank Robertson; sisters, Betty Bieweiller of Corning, Marion Struble of Florida; sisters-in-law, Gladys Lott of Burdett, Margaret VanDeusen of Watkins Glen; and brother-in-law, Glen Robertson of Burdett. She is survived by children, Judith Mangus and Charlotte (Laurence) Jaynes, all of Burdett; grandson, Robert (Cathy) Mangus; and granddaughter, Michelle (Donald) Clark, also of Burdett. Dorothy is also survived by three very special great-grandchildren, Mathew and Mitchell Mangus, and Ryan Clark, all of Burdett; a special sister-in-law, Inez Ghem of Vestal; and a sister, Arlene Jones of Georgia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy and of Delka Der Cosmetology School. She operated a beauty salon on Logan Rd. in Burdett. She later retired from Schuyler Hospital, where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of the original Burdett Players and the Burdett Methodist Church. Dorothy loved to paint and sing while playing her organ. Most of all, Dorothy cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love and devotion for her family shown through her voice every time she talked about them. She will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew her. Although she was on this earth for a short 87 years, she touched many lives in many special ways. For all who knew her, she was a kind and gentle lady.
