Douglas Hagin
Age 64, of Watkins Glen and formerly of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness, on April 19, 2022.
The family will receive friends at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Sunday (April 24) from 2pm-5pm; followed by a memorial service at the funeral home at 5pm.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Hagin; son Casey Hagin of Ithaca, daughter Kelsey (Dylan) Bailey of Horseheads; brother Bill (Jo) Hagin of Ithaca; Phyllis (Daryl) Haynor and their children, Kristen and Nicolas of Oakton, VA; and his beloved fur babies.
Doug was an Insurance Agent for 40 years, co-owning and operating E.C. Cooper Insurance in Watkins Glen since 2005. Doug was a member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Watkins-Montour Rotary Club, a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge in Watkins Glen, and a member and volunteer with the VetsRide motorcycle organization.
Doug was always a competitive person; from high school baseball to getting the bug to ski and becoming an instructor to racing on a professional circuit. After that, he decided to settle down and and continue his competitive qualities through his kids.
He was passionate about everything he did in life, like hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time on Tug Hill with some of the best people. As of late, his greatest passions were his motorcycles, his family (2&4 legged), catching more fish than his daughter, and swimming faster than his son.
Doug was the kind of person who could make friends anywhere. He was a true friend and would do anything for anyone. He will be truly missed by all.
Memorial donations may be made in Doug’s memory to CareFirst or Schuyler County Humane Society. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
