Elisabeth Voorhees Hazlitt
Age 98, of 5631 St. Rte. 414, Hector, NY, passed away March 17, 2007 at home.
Born January 22, 1909, she was the daughter of Charles and Elisabeth Voorhees of Lodi, NY.
Betty married James Hazlitt in 1940 after graduating from Lodi High School and attending Rutgers University for two years. Jim and Betty loved to entertain family and friends at the lake and at the family homestead. Betty enjoyed playing the ukulele and preparing wonderful meals with ingredients fresh from her garden. She also enjoyed riding her horse Tony, knitting, waterskiing, tending her beautiful flower garden and golfing.
Betty ran the home and helped on the family fruit farm. She is remembered fondly by many for the years that she ran the fruit stand in front of their home selling cherries, peaches, apples and grapes.
Betty was a loyal member of the Hector Presbyterian Church, worked with the League of Women Voters, and volunteered at the Elizabeth Pert Library and Schuyler Hospital.
She is in loving memory of her family – Jim (Sue) Hazlitt, Elaine Hazlitt, grandchildren, Eric (Tina) Hazlitt, Kristen (Fred Wickham) Hazlitt, Phillip Hazlitt, Doug (Cheryl) Hazlitt, Leigh (Greg) Triner, plus 11 great-grandchildren and one great-grandson. She is predeceased by her husband, James Hazlitt and son, Jerry Hazlitt.

According to her wishes, there will be no public calling hours and funeral services will be private.
