Elsie R. Brewer
Age 79, of Dundee, NY, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her four daughters under hospice care. Elsie was born in Odessa, NY on November 3, 1932, the daughter of the late Sydney and Frances Beebe. On April 30, 1955, she married Donald F. Brewer and they happily lived and raised their daughters in Dundee. She was predeceased by her husband in 1991 and siblings, Joy Beebe, Clyde Beebe, Ione Havens, Neal Beebe, Nelson Beebe and Paul Beebe. Elsie is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law; Joy (Carter) Foster of Kennesaw, GA, Donna Brewer of Brockport, Wendy (Timothy) Gibson of Dundee, and Barbara (Robert) Belmore of Dundee; brothers, Merton (Gladys) Beebe, Guy (Virginia) Beebe; sisters-in-law, Connie Beebe, Harlene Beebe, Marian Bolin-Beebe, and Betty Sudol; five grandchildren, Heather (Keith) McLaughlin, Jolee Bailey, Chelsie Belmore, Austin Gibson, and Aubrie Belmore; one great granddaughter, Avery Bailey Weatherbee; and several special nieces and nephews. Elsie was a devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, and friend to many. Elsie’s long career in banking finished with her retirement from Chemung Canal Trust Company in 1992 after serving many customers at the Montour Falls office. Elsie had been a member of the Dundee Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder and Treasurer. She also volunteered as secretary to the Town of Starkey Planning Board and as an Election Inspector. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Thursday (May 24th) from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home; followed by a committal services at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee.
