Mourey, Emily Fudge

Of Watkins Glen, NY passed away Monday, May 14, 2007, at her home with her husband, William K. Mourey, Sr., by her side. She was born in Montour Falls on November 30, 1923, to Robert T. Fudge and Hazel Marvin Fudge. Emily was graduated from Briarcliff Manor Junior College. Her first employed position was as secretary to the Dean of Architecture at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. She married William K. Mourey on June 17, 1950. Her last employed position was as attendance secretary for Odessa-Montour Central School in Odessa, NY, from which she retired. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Helen F. Bricker; her sister, Rosemary F. Mott; her brother, Robert T. Fudge, Jr.; and her brother, William E. Fudge. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, her son, William K. Mourey, Jr. (Therese) of Lawrenceville, GA; her son, John P. Mourey (Edie) of Big Flats, NY; her grandson, Adrial Mourey, of Hornell, NY; her granddaughter, Abbie M. Mourey of Big Flats, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Emily received an honorary life membership to the Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church in 2007. She has been a member of First Presbyterian Church of Watkins Glen, NY, for 50 years, serving through the years as Sunday school teacher and an officer in the Women's Association. She has also faithfully served her community for many years as a volunteer for the Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary and the Schuyler County League of Women Voters. She belonged to the Town and Country Girls and was an avid bridge player, playing as a member of the Tuesday and Thursday Bridge Club. Cheerful in service and warm-hearted in friendship, she was a natural hostess with a kind sense of humor, and her home was a welcoming place for family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all her friends but most especially by her husband, children, and granddaughter. A service of memorial will be held at a later date.
