Fanny (Milizia) LaForty
88, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2016. Fanny is survived by her three children, Nancy (LaForty) Hoover, (Ernest) Michele LaForty, and Arnold W. LaForty; grandsons, Erik Hoover (Liz), Troy Hoover ( Amy) , and Tim Hoover; great-grandchildren; Ben, Kevin, and Anna Hoover; sister, Yolanda Swartz; several nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Fanny ran Seneca Highlands Campground in Watkins Glen, was a teacher aide at Watkins Glen Middle School and later ran her own business, Fanny LaForty Real Estate & Public Record Bulletin. Fanny volunteered with Seneca Santa, St. Mary's Guild and various other local causes. She loved playing cards at the Elks, Mechanics Club and VFW. Fanny's charismatic personality touched so many lives. She was always ready to help, lend an ear, and give a hug. Fanny's baking expertise was well known. She was always bringing her famous peanut butter balls, cookies, and cakes to anyone who needed cheering up or as a thank you. She was a loving mom and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Fanny will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on through our wonderful memories. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing nurses, doctors and staff at Arnot-Ogden Hospital, Richard & Betty Scuteri, and Pam and Ron Hickman for their care and love! The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Friday, May 27, from 4pm-6pm. A funeral service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester at the convenience of the family.
