Franklin P. Rider
Age 82, of Montour Falls, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife and children, on September 6, 2020.
Frank was born in Lodi, NY on July 13, 1938, the son of Howard Rider, Sr. and Beatrice (Moses) Rider.
He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for several construction companies, including Narde Paving Co. and the Village of Elmira Heights. After "retirement" he worked by his wife's side at Davis Farms. Running heavy equipment and general farm work as he never liked to "sit still." Until Parkinson's stole his independence, he stopped at Chef's Diner nearly every evening for coffee, rice pudding, and to catch up on all the news.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Rosella Westfall, and brother Lawrence Rider.
He is survived by his wife Marion “Edie” Rider; children, Sherral (Charles) Richtmyer, Cindy Bixby, Nancy (Charles) McFall, John (Jenny) Benjamin-Rider, and Sheila (Rodney) Cody; brothers and sisters, Howard Rider, Jr. (Meredith Lango), Bessie Woodward, Donald (Sheron) Rider, Martha (Ron) Stowell, and Lewis Rider; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
