Age 80 of Starkey Point, NY, passed away in Venice, FL on Sunday February 27, 2022.
The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Monday (March 7) from 6pm-8pm; and Tuesday (March 8) from 12pm-1pm; followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm at the funeral home; and burial at Lakeview View Cemetery.
Gary enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time on Seneca Lake.
He retired from NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. He was the District Audit Manager of the Rochester office at the time of his retirement in 1997.
Gary was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Caroline in 2010. He is survived by children, Doug Mead of Conway, SC, Barbara (Marc) Pukos of Churchville, Michael (Jenn) Matthews of Onondaga, Diana (Carl) Davidson of Venice, FL, Jeff (Vicki) Matthews of Penn Yan, Karen Lacey of Penn Yan, Susan Matthews of Geneva, Scott (June) Mead of Churchville; brother Robert (Donna) Mead of Perry; sister Nancy (Terry) Austin of Hudson, FL; sister-in-law Nancy Mead of Perry; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
