Gene H. Smith
Age 67 of Reading Center NY, passed away after a long illness, at home
with family by his side on May 1, 2022.
He worked for Shepard Niles for nearly 30 years, and the WGCSD until he retired in
2016. He loved taking walks on state land with his wife and family, as well as working in their
extensive gardens and tinkering with DIY projects.
He is survived by his much-loved wife JoAnn, Children Jacinta of Reading Center NY,
Aaron (Abbey) of Waukegan Illinois, & Devlin (Vanessa) of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Alex
Piper, Gabe, Lula, Alana, Kaden, Emberly, Brent and Garrett. He was predeceased by his
cherished father Harry Smith, and much-loved father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee and Louise
Radcliffe.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either the Wildlife Wishing Well in
Ithaca, or The Humane Society of Schuyler County in Montour Falls.
A Celebration of his life will be held at their home, 4087 State Route 14A in Reading Center on May 14, from 5-7 pm.
