George W. Bond, Sr.
Age 86, of Hector, NY, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 at home. The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Saturday (Feb. 20th) from 1:00pm-3:00pm; followed by a funeral service at 3:00pm; burial at Hector Presbyterian Cemetery. George was born in Port Henry, NY to Kenneth and Viola (Lackey) Bond. He retired from Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in Hector, NY. He was a member of the National Guard and served in the United States Army, and was a charter member and volunteer of the VLH Fire Department. He was a New York State Bowhunter Instructor for 20 years. He was the founder of the Hector Bowhunter Club and a proud member of the Odessa Conservation Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. George was predeceased by parents, Viola and Kenneth Bond, first wife, Barbara Bond, children, Patricia, Susan (Larry) Caslin, Charles (Lisa), Bruce (Angela) and Larry Bond. He is survived by wife, Beverly Pierce Bond and children Linda (Charles) Knapp, Timothy (Kathy) Bond, George Jr. (Rita) Bond, Debra (Skip) Opdyke, Viola (Paul) Woodworth, Craig (David) Bond, Leslie (Scott) Crane; stepchildren, Barbara (Ed) Corriveau, Arthur Pierce, Penny (Jeff) Mapes, Kevin Pierce, Wendy Pierce and Martin Pierce. He is also survived by three siblings, Gilbert (Del) Bond, Sylvia Capach, and Jeannette (Allen) Brant ; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
