Giles “Gil” J. Greenier
Age 88, of Elmira and formerly Burdett, NY, passed away December 14, 2015. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday (Dec. 18th) from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00pm. Burial will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery with military honors. Giles was born in Caribou, Maine on July 9, 1927, the 8th son of 19 children of Edward and Anna Greenier. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, June Greenier; daughters, Michele (Curtis) Taylor of Lawrenceville, GA and Judy Marie Greenier of Elmira, five surviving siblings, Vernal Greenier, Donna Greenier, Dee Normandin, Loretta Matoon, and Phyllis Tason; and three grandchildren, Bradley Greenier, Kaiden Casselbury, and Coral Kinkade. Gil honorably served in the US Army in Korea from 1946-1947. He worked as a Construction Foreman for Liuna Laborers Local #1358 and faithfully attended masses at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen. lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
