Helena A. Howard
Age 90, of Horseheads, NY, formerly lifelong resident of Rock Stream, Watkins Glen, and Schuyler County, died peacefully at home Friday, May 25, 2012. The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m., where a memorial service for Helena will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 4 p.m. with Rev. Jeremy Spencer officiating. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830; or Schuyler County Historical Society, P.O. Box 651, Montour Falls, NY 14865. Helena was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, George L. Howard on May 6, 2004; sisters Dorothy VanDyke and Margaret Andrews, and brother Carl Andrews. She is survived by her children, Dennis Howard of Traverse City, MI, and Karen Morgan of Horseheads; granddaughters, Janet Morgan of Corning, Rana Morgan Criss (Chuck) of Belmont; close friend, Carrie Carozzoni of Corning; and several nieces and nephews. Helena was born in the Town of Reading on May 31, 1921, the daughter of the late Arthur and Cora Andrews. Helena worked for Western Counties Telephone Corp. in Dundee for many years. Her hobbies included genealogy, gardening and bird watching. She was also a co-founder of Jo-Ho’s, a genealogical organization.
