Ida May Ameigh
Age 78, of Townsend, NY passed away on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 at home. She was born on December 23, 1936, the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Sims) Friends in Jackson Summit, PA. She was predeceased by her parents; sons, Joseph and Jonathon Ameigh, several brothers and sisters; mother-in-law and father-in law, Lynn C. Ameigh, Sr., and Genevieve (Caldwell) Ameigh; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; son-in-law, Kenneth Hartford; and 2 great-grandsons, Lucas and RyLee. Ida is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Lynn C. Ameigh, Jr.; 5 children, Kathleen Hartford of North Carolina, Michael (Marian) Ameigh of Watkins Glen, James Ameigh of Beaver Dams, Linda (Michael) Chilson of Watkins Glen, Susan Farr (James Augustine) of Hector; brothers and sisters, Henry Friends and Mary of Elmira, NY, Myrtle Baum of Port Orange, FL, Arvilla (Dave)Wilson of Phelps, NY, and Donald (Denise) Friends of Willseyville, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Ida worked for Monty and Beverly Stamp for years picking grapes. She worked several years at the A&P Plant in Horseheads, and for Westinghouse. She was also the owner and operator of the Townsend Grocery Store for 14 years. Ida loved her cow collection, her puzzles and crafts, and to spoil her grandchildren. She especially loved baking and cooking for everyone. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, from 4:00pm-6:00pm; followed by a funeral service at 6:00pm at the funeral home.
