James Henry Bond Jr.
Age 79, of Valois, known by his friends as Hank, passed peacefully in his home early morning on April 24th, 2018.
He leaves behind the kind of legacy only a town icon can. He was a man of many talents and it shows in his myriad of accomplishments, in his children and grandchildren’s faces and in the memories of the lives he’s touched. Hank was the Hector Town Justice for thirty years, a distinguished member of the Hector Fire Department, a jack of all trades for Bond Dairy & Fruit Stand, a mechanic for the Town of Hector and a machinist at NAPA. He was known as one of the best euchre players and he could often be found in his garage spending time with his best friends. His grandchildren remember him as a fierce and loyal grandfather who would do anything for them or anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Bond, his brother Phil and wife Wilma Bond, and by his children, James III & Debbra Bond, Jerry Bond, Jennifer Bond, Jason and Janine Bond and Betty Jo Palmer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Denise Ganton, DJ & Abby Ganton, James IV & Alexandra Bond, Justin & Sarah Bond, Jerry Bond Jr., Bobby and Cody Bond, Nicole Bond, Eric Bell, Jonathan and Valerie Preston, LynnAnn Caslin, Terry and Jordan Bond, Brady and Sydney Bond, Emmie Bond and Tori Palmer, four great-grandchildren, 50+ foster children, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no calling hours or funeral but the family will hold a celebration of life at a date to be announced this summer. Donations can be made to the VLH Fire Department for those looking for some way to honor his life.
