Janice Brew
Age 88, of Watkins Glen, passed away January 14, 2016. Janice was born in Sayre, PA on December 7, 1927, the daughter of Kenneth and Frances Jackson. She worked for many years at Glen National Bank in Watkins Glen before retiring. Janice was a longtime member and deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Watkins Glen. She was also Past President of the BPW (Southern Tier Women’s Assoc.), member of Women of the Moose, member of BPOE Women Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Schuyler Hospital and member of the Schuyler Hospital Women Auxiliary. She also formerly volunteered at the Office for the Aging, assisting the elderly with insurance claims. She was predeceased by her parents; and loving husband William “Bubby” Brew; and son Joseph E. Brew. She is survived by her dear friend, Kenny DePew; sisters, Pat (Bill) Macnamara of Watkins Glen, and Lyndal Homet of Towanda, PA; brother, Kenneth (Debbie) Jackson of Fairport; and special niece, Janice Learn of Watkins Glen. She is also survived by numerous other extended family. The family will receive friends and relatives at the First Presbyterian Church, 520 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, from 12pm-2:00pm on Saturday, January 16, 2016. A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at the church at 2:00pm; Rev. Nancy Meehan Yao will officiate; followed by burial at Pleasant View Cemetery in Reading Center. The family will provide flowers.
