Jeanne S. Donnell, age 90 of Watkins Glen, passed into the arms of the Lord on December 17, 2015. She joins her predeceased infant son Kevin Gerard, parents Robert and Sarah Smith, sister Dorothy Franzese and brother-in-law Albert Franzese, brother Robert Smith (Mary), brother-in-law Gordon Bidlack, brother-in-law John Donnell, sister-in-law Ella Cronin (Jack)/(Paul Craugh), sister-in-law Margaret Donnell (Leon VanOstrand) and her dearest friend Judith (Mike) Brace. Jeanne leaves behind her husband of nearly 70 years, Michael Donnell of Watkins Glen - as well as sister Joyce Bidlack of Canton CT, children Linda (Lee) Bradley of Newington CT; Michael Donnell (Susan) of Hilton Head SC; Kathleen (John) Sargent of Winter Springs FL; Tim Donnell (Laurie Brady) of Livonia NY, Carol (Robert) Tully of Deerfield Beach, FL, Barbara Donnell (John Doolittle) of Watkins Glen NY, and Mary Donnell (Eric Herminghausen) of East Burke, VT. She also leaves her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanne was born in Valois NY on August 1, 1925. She was employed by the Seneca Army Depot in the 40's, married Michael Donnell after WWII and became a dedicated wife and mother. Many local vineyards and orchards benefited from her labors over the years. Jeanne also delivered Burdett and Hector children to school and worked for many years at the Chieftain Motel. She served the town of Dix at Voter Registration, and along with Mike volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Her unique sense of humor enriched many lives. She enjoyed gardening, long walks and a good read. Her love for Seneca Lake found her often gazing peacefully at its edge. Jeanne's last many months were blessed by the loving care of staff at the Elcor Nursing Home in Horseheads NY. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Private visitation will be held Sunday December 20th, at Royce- Chedzoy Funeral Home in Watkins Glen. A Mass will be celebrated Monday December 21st, at St. Mary's of the Lake in Watkins Glen at 11a.m; interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. Reception to follow at Elks Lodge.
