Joan C. Kinner

Age 74, of Odessa, NY, passed away February 15, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Joan was born February 10, 1950, the daughter of Herbert and Helen (Moore) Sheffield.  Joan was a dedicated member of the cafeteria team for the Odessa-Montour Central School and enjoyed many years working in the Argentsinger Vineyards.  

She was predeceased by her father in January 2007.  She was also predeceased by two of her sisters, Donna Compton and Bonnie White, and granddaughter Mariah. 

She is survived by her mother, Helen (Moore) Haight; and three children, Betty Lynn (Stacey) Smith of Beaver Dams, Marion (Adam) Reed of Odessa, and Shirley Kinner (Frank Reed) of Watkins Glen.  As well as her brothers and sisters, Patrick (Cheryl) White of Cayuta, Herb (Lisa) Sheffield of Ithaca, Lloyd Sheffield of Ithaca, Helen Alford of Trumansburg, Nancy (Dan) Greenwalt of Erin, and Sandra Babcock of Montour Falls, Debbie Hart of Ithaca; seven grandchildren, Mindy, Jessica, Grant, Heavyn, Carri, Brielle, and Jana; and 10 great-grandchildren, Brookelyn, Kayleigh, Avery, Thoryn, Greyson, Kiona, Maddisyn, Arryah, Mckennah, and Augustus.  

Known for her passion for crocheting and the joy she found in dancing and singing - what truly captured Joan's heart was preparing home-cooked meals for her family. Her love knew no bounds when it came to those dear to her heart.
