Klara K. Butler
Age 82, of Watkins Glen, passed away March 14, 2021.
Klara was born in Kitzingen, Germany in 1939, the daughter of the late George and Marie Winkler. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Butler, Sr in 2008 and daughter, Diane Butler Marburger in 1994. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Gail Butler of Watkins Glen; brothers, Edgar Winkler, and George Winkler, both of Germany; sisters, Irene Weinheimer of Arizona, Eleonore Peebles of Oklahoma, and Jutta (Richard) Johnson of Florida; four grandchildren, Brandi Wildeman of Pennsylvania, Dewayne (Theresa) Butler of Watkins Glen, Joshua (Abbie) Butler of Maryland, and Nicholas (Megan) Butler of Louisiana; six great-grandchildren, Ariel Wildeman of Florida and Daine Butler and Malina Butler, both of Watkins Glen, and Charles Butler, Nora Butler and Lucy Butler, all of Maryland.
Klara was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church.
In Germany she worked at Baeren-Schmidt candy factory after completing school in the eight grade. She arrived in America in 1956 at the age of sixteen speaking very little English with one suitcase and twenty dollars in her pocket. She was proud to become an American citizen in 1965. She worked various jobs throughout her life retiring from a local dentistry in Watkins Glen as a receptionist. She was a very caring and generous person not just to her family, but also to many others in her life.
According to her wishes, there will be no visitation services and a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
