Leslie "Les" Shershoff,
MONTOUR FALLS: Age 90, formerly of Alfred, NY, and resident of The Falls Home in Montour Falls, passed away April 9, 2014 at the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY, where he resided for several years. Les was born in New York, NY on May 15, 1923, the son of David and Beatrice (Mandelbaum) Shershoff. He served in the US Army Air Corps in WWII as a bombsight mechanic. After the war, Les returned to Alfred University where he earned his undergraduate degree. He later received his Masters Degree at Kent State University and then worked in engineering at the Bendix Corporation. Les eventually returned to Alfred, NY where, for many years, he owned and operated the Alfred Village Store. His hobbies centered on trains and model railroading, and he was the last surviving Charter Member of the Hornell, NY Model Railroad Club. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Alfred Rural Cemetery in Alfred, NY.
