Mabel G. VanAmburg
Age 88, of Watkins Glen passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 24, 2011.
She was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church in Watkins Glen. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Monday, February 28 from 5-7 p.m.; a funeral service will directly follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be held in the spring at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mabel was born on December 23, 1922 in Monterey to parents Isiac and Margaret (Wilson) Bump. She worked for many years at Scuteri’s Pizzaria and Joe and Vera’s Restaurant in Watkins Glen. She was also a longtime volunteer for the Office of the Aging, serving meals at St. James Parish Hall in Watkins Glen.
She was predeceased by her parents; by her husband, Richard VanAmburg Sr., in 1996; by daughter Norma in 1953, and by brother Wilson Bump in 2009.
She is survived by her sons, Richard VanAmburg II (Delores) of Chester, VA, Michael J. VanAmburg of Watkins Glen, Robert VanAmburg (Kathy) of Watkins Glen, and Edward VanAmburg (Bonnie) of Watkins Glen; five grandchildren, Richard VanAmburg III, Shelly (Michael) Myers, Nicholas VanAmburg, Christopher VanAmburg, and Katie VanAmburg; and one great-granddaughter, Sophie Myers.
