Margaret L. Gunning

Age 91, of Burdett, NY, passed away Monday, August 20, 2007 at Seneca View, Montour Falls.

The family will receive friends at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm; a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00am at the Burdett Presbyterian Church, 3995 Church Street, Burdett.; Rev. Richard E. Evan officiating; burial at Hector Union Cemetery, Burdett.

Born in Findlay, OH, daughter of Scott and Emma Clymer, she married her husband of 48 years, John Gunning. Margaret retired from Cornell University. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and grandson, Scott Gunning. She was a member of the Burdett Presbyterian Church, serving as Elder and Deacon; and a volunteer for AARP. She was also a member of the Burdett Fire Department Auxiliary, and Wednesday Afternoon Club.

She is survived by four children, Geta (Pierre) Biever, Bruce (Sandra) Gunning, Sue (Ralph) Dean, all of Burdett, and Clair Gunning, of Montour Falls; sister, Oletha Jean Barton, of Portsmouth, NH; sisters-in-law, Mary VanDerzee and Harriet I. Gunning of Trumansburg; six grandchildren, Philip and Mark Biever, Pamela Arcangeli, Melissa Hubbel, Brain Dean, Stacie Rogers; and four step-grandchildren, Shiela Fankhauser, and Darrell, Doug and David Cole; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great grandchildren.
