Marjorie J. Allen
Age 85, of Montour Falls and formerly of Candor, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Schuyler Hospital, Montour Falls, NY. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Friday (July 15th) from 1-2pm; with a funeral service following at 2:00pm; burial at Montour Cemetery. She was born on September 4, 1925 in Smithboro, NY, the daughter of the late Alma L. Taylor-Presher. Marjorie was a 1942 graduate of Candor Central School and worked for over 30 years as an Election Inspector for the Town of Dix, since 1967. She also worked as a housekeeping supervisor at the former Jefferson Hotel in Watkins Glen. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Howard Allen in 1999. She is survived by her brother, Frank G. Root of Memphis, NY; sisters, Sue Bennett of Columbus, KS, and Shirley Hatch of Candor, NY; sister-in-law, Estellene Allen of Montour Falls; best friend, Mary Tillinghast of Montour Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
