Melvin E. Horton, Sr.

Age 71, of Hornby Rd., Beaver Dams, NY passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, November 26, 2010 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th., Watkins Glen, on Thursday, December 2, from 4-6pm; followed by a celebration at Melvin’s Home.

He was born on November 24, 1939 in Corning, NY, the son of Norman and Mary Elizabeth Horton. Melvin was a jack of all trades, and enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his son Johnny.

Melvin is survived by his wife Mary; sons, Johnny (Shearee) Horton of Monterey, Melvin Horton , Jr. (Kelly Groves) of Monterey; daughters, Christina Ellison (Mark Turner) of Monterey, Star mel (Ed) Robinson of Dundee; step-sons, David McClain, Jr. of Penn Yan; Jerry (Darlene) Marrow of Corning; step daughter, MaryJo (Leon) Taylor of Dundee; also 27 beautiful grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Melvin was predeceased by his parents; also brothers Richard and Norman Horton, infant sister, Annette Horton; and his beloved dog Bubba.
