Norma E. McCawley
90, of Corning, NY, passed away peacefully at Corning Hospital after a brief illness on Saturday, February 11, 2012. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Tuesday (Feb. 14th) from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00am at the funeral home; followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen. Norma was born in Watkins Glen on December 28, 1921, the daughter of Lloyd and H. Louise Evans. She was predeceased by her parents; also husband, William M. McCawley; and sister, Gertrude Dye. She is survived by her two sons, David (Diane) McCawley of Horseheads, and James McCawley of Watkins Glen; brother and sisters, Margaret (LeLand) Knowles of Valois, LeRoy (Erma Lou) Evans of Watkins Glen, and Ruth (Charles) Hayes of Montour Falls; six grandchildren, Michael (Joette), Timothy (Amy), Maureen, Joseph, Brian, and Christopher McCawley; seven great-grandchildren, Sara, Erin, Lindsay, Nathaniel, Marin, Joshua, and Ayden; also several nieces and nephews. Norma retired from the Southern Tier Library system. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830.
