Philip C. Bond

April 20, 1944 — November 16, 2021

Philip Charles Bond
Age 77, of Hector NY, passed from this life peacefully in his sleep after a courageous and long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on November 16, 2021.

Philip was born in Montour Falls NY on April 20, 1944, one of five children born to the late James and Elsie (Foote) Bond. He graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1962 and enlisted in the US Airforce. He was stationed in Germany and served four years. He then worked at Schweizer Aircraft in Big Flats NY and then became a foreman at Morton Salt Company. An opportunity arose in the 80’s to become a co-owner of the family restaurant (Mr. Chicken) until he retired in 2016.

Philip was best known for his love of racing cars, snow mobiles, and motorcycles and his need for speed. His favorite past time was playing horseshoes, collecting classic cars and playing with his grandchildren who lovingly called him Bompa. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma (Bush) Bond and his children Robin Bertholf (Greg), Tad Bond, Kari Markley (Jody) as well as his 10 grandchildren: Alexis, Danae, Nicholas, & Melina Bertholf; Brandon, Philip & Deven Bond; Joe DeNardo, Timothy & Dylan Markley and 3 great grandchildren: Hadley Bond, Paxton & Lincon DeNardo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Hank, Doug, Art and Barbara.

Per Philips wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Hector Fire Department at hectorfire.com.

You may share a memory of Phil with his family and friends by visiting his obituary at www.RoyceChedzoy.com. Arrangements entrusted to Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
