Raymond E. Dann Jr.
Age 86, of Hammondsport, NY, passed away Feb. 26, 2022.
He will be interred with military honors at Tyrone Union Cemetery on Saturday July 2 at 11:00am. Everyone is welcomed!
Ray was born in Syracuse, NY on September 7, 1935, the son of the late Raymond E. Dann Sr. and Dorcas (Dempster) Dann.
Raymond owned and operated Ray Dann’s Town and County Trading Post in Tyrone for more than 56 years, and was a Rural Route Carrier for Watkins Glen for many years.
Raymond graduated from Dundee High School in 1954 and enlisted in the US Army, serving in Japan and was a helicopter operator. After his service, he studied at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical School and graduated top of his class in 1959.
In 1964, he married the love of his life, Glenna M. Dann. They celebrated 57 years together.
Raymond was a member of the Tyrone United Methodist Church and member and volunteer with the Tyrone Volunteer Fire Department.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents and son, Michael Dann, and brother Brent Dann, and sister Carolyn Knowlton.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Dann; daughters Diane (Lloyd) Young of Almond, NY; Jennifer Dann (Sean) Johnson of Los Angelas, CA; brother Lynn Dann (Debbie) of South Carolina; sister Susan Cherock of Liverpool; sister-in-law, Jeanne Dann; and grandchildren, Megan Lee (Tom Clenshaw), Vincent Long, Glenn (Mary) Sherwood, Sully Sherwood (Paris Oakes), Katelyn (Clayton) Lounsberry, and Casey Young.
