Rita Pierce

Rita June Baker Pierce, 75, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at her residence.


Mrs. Pierce was born Nov. 11, 1932 in Troupsburg, NY to Jesse and Anna Schall Baker. She moved to Washington Court House, Ohio in 1967 from Lima.


She was a school teacher and had taught in the Washington City Schools before her retirement in 1998. She had also worked for the U.S. Census Bureau. Mrs. Pierce graduated from Watkins Glen High School in1950. She received her teaching degree at Northwestern University.


Mrs. Pierce was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and was currently regent of the Washington C.H. Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.


She is survived by her former husband of 30 years, Donald Pierce of Albuquerque, NM; three children, Daniel Pierce of Washington C.H., David Pierce and his wife, Beverly, of Painted Post, New York, and Susan Fordyce and Bryce Kingery of Washington C.H.; six grandchildren, granddaughter Jannette Steinhardt and her husband, grandson Christopher, of Washington C.H., granddaughter Barbara Pierce of Columbus, grandson Christopher Pierce and his wife, Tosha, and granddaughter Sally Pierce, all of Painted Post, grandson Anthony Pavey of Washington C.H., and granddaughter Rebecca Clemens and her husband, James, of Jamestown, Ohio; eight great grandchildren, Kristian and Sarah Steinhardt, Noble and Jacob Smith, Tayler and Caeden Pierce and Hayden and Ethan Pavey; a sister, Dorothy Lott, of Burdett, NY and a brother, Jesse Duane Baker of Brighton, MI.


A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 4:00pm at the Union Cemetery of Hector (Rte. 79), Burdett, NY; Rev. Mark Flandreau, of the United Methodist Church of Burdett, will officiate. You may view her memorial or sign a guestbook online at www.Royce-Chedzoy.com.
