Robert J. “Bob” Smalley

Age 85, of Beaver Dams, NY passed away at home on December 11, 2021.

Robert was born in Montour Falls, son of the late Lester N. and Florence (Weaver) Smalley.
Bob was predeceased by his wife June (Howell) Smalley in 2002; brothers, Gene and Tom; and sisters Valnetta Crissinger and Sharon Bingell.

He is survived by brother, Michael Smalley and sister, Kathy Ector. He is also survived by children, Robin (Pete) Johnson of Millport, Zeloma Rogers (Robert James) of Kentucky, Joshua Smalley of Texas; six grandchildren, Amber, Lydia, Jared, Emily, Caleb Johnson and Laura Reynolds; and 9 very special great-grandchildren.

Bob married his high school sweetheart in 1956. He honorably served in the US Air Force from 1956-1976, traveling the United States with his family. After settling at Caywood Shores, he served 15 years Civil Service at Seneca Army Depot. He took great pride in his employment during later years with Watkins Glen International and Wal-Mart in Painted Post. He enjoyed stock car racing, family get togethers, riding his motorcycle, driving his Chevy SSR and doing anything that would make someone smile. His greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Saturday, December 18, from 10am-12pm; followed by a funeral service at 12pm at the funeral home; and burial with military honors at Hector Presbyterian Cemetery.
