Rose Eisman

April 13, 1921 — July 29, 2016

EISMAN, Rose
95, passed away quietly at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls on July 29, 2016. Rose, or Rosie as she preferred to be called by one and all, was born April 13, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to Abraham and Gisela Becker. The youngest of 5 children, she moved to Miami Beach with her parents as a teenager when her mother's health required it. There she lived, worked, and married the love of her life, Leo Eisman, in 1946. They raised their two sons, and Rosie worked in various office jobs, retiring as account clerk for the City of Miami Beach. When she became a widow at the young age of 58, she determined to purchase the former Hector Falls Motel while visiting her son in the Finger Lakes, renaming it Chalet Leon at Hector Falls in memory of her husband. She poured her considerable business skills, passion for people of all sorts, and seemingly tireless energy into building up a resort that brought customers back again and again. Rose was described as a force of nature, and no one who spent time with her could ever forget her. All the while that she dedicated herself to her business, she also poured her love into her family and her dear grandchildren. She adored them all. While she could, she attended every basketball game, rehearsal and performance, assisted with product sales, and supported them lovingly in every way possible. She is greatly missed by her sons Michael (Harriet) Eisman and George Eisman (Claire Holzner), grandchildren Emily Eisman (Rocci Aguirre), Lael (Jaclyn Marie) Eisman, Jacob (Phoebe Van Vleet) Eisman, Thomas Eisman, Sarah Schlueter-Eisman, and great-granddaughter Zia Rosemary Eisman, and by Thomas and Sarah's mother Shelly Schlueter. She is also missed by her sisters-in-law Rhea Eisman and Vivian Miller, and nephews and nieces Howard and Christine Wilson, Adele Wilson, and Phil and Ellen Singer, and by many many dear friends. The family is immensely grateful for the wonderful tender care given to Rosie by the nurses and aides at Seneca View. There are no calling hours. Interment will be at the Montour Cemetery (top entrance) in Montour Falls on Monday, August 1, at 2:30 p.m. There will be a celebration of Rosie's life at the Harvest Café in Montour Falls on Saturday, August 27 at 6 p.m. Please direct donations in Rosie's name to Wildkind Care Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility, 3674 Cronk Road, Montour Falls, NY 14865. Arrangements entrusted to the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home.
