Taylor Ann Reasor (Murphy)

March 7, 1998 — May 21, 2023

Taylor Ann Reasor (Murphy), 25, of Cayuta, NY, lost her battle with depression on May 21, 2023.

Taylor was born on March 7, 1998 at Cayuga Medical Center (CMC) in Ithaca NY, and at the age of 4, moved to Trumansburg where she grew up and called home. Trying to define what Taylor meant to all who knew her into just a few words is impossible.  Anyone who met her, loved her.  She was beautiful, smart, humble, kind, quirky, artistic, athletic, musical, funny, and above all, she was compassionate.  Taylor’s desire to care for people stemmed from watching her dear Mimi fight and ultimately lose her battle with cancer.  The foundation in which she lived and ultimately became her career was formed by watching the nurses who helped ease Mimi’s transition from this world into the next.

Taylor graduated Charles O. Dickerson High School in Trumansburg  in 2016 where she spent her senior year as a New Visions student focused in the Health Sciences Program. Following graduation, while pursuing her education part time, she worked at CMC, Brookdale and Bridges while gaining experience in the field that she loved: Nursing.  Taylor overcame many obstacles during this time, but with her determination and drive, she graduated from TC3 in May 2022, passed her boards, became an RN and went on to continue working at CMC in the Intensive Care Unit as an overnight ICU Nurse.

One of the happiest days of her life was when she married her husband John on November 17, 2022 at a beautiful and intimate ceremony at the Will’N Away B&B in Montour Falls.  They went on to buy their first house in Cayuta shortly thereafter, where Taylor and John worked together to turn their house into a home.  Taylor loved her precious fur babies; dogs Bailey and King, and cat Shaggy. She loved reading outside in her swing chair, singing and playing her ukulele, writing stories and poems, skiing at Greek Peak, going on walks and hikes, and above all loved spending time with her family and husband. Taylor will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Taylor was preceded in death by her grandparents, John “Jack” (Papa) and Gail (Mimi) Murphy and infant cousin Connor Rickett.

She leaves behind, (husband) John Reasor, (mother) Tammy Murphy, (father) David Murphy , (sister) Michaela Murphy, (brother) Jack Murphy, (stepfather) Joel Starley, (grandparents) Steve and Liane Waters and Freda Tewell, (father/mother in law) Gary and Annette Reasor, (sisters in law) Morgan Hall, Christina Bogart, Amy Wilkinson, Amanda and Melinda Reasor, (brother in law) Gary Reasor Jr, (uncles) Duane Waters, Justin Tewell, Kevin Rickett, Loren Gardner and Ryan Murphy, (aunts) Angela Waters, Samantha Tewell, Crystal Rickett and Kristen Gardner, (cousins) Kate, Ellie, Anna, Kenlee, Elizabeth, Jon, Cassie and Cameron.

No words will ever be able to truly describe the impact that Taylor had on others and how much she will be missed.  We  invite all that know and love her to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at the Stewart Park Pavilion in Ithaca NY on June 9th from 1-3 pm, with the ceremony starting promptly at 2 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that each person consider the life-saving gift of organ donation, and if desired, a donation in her honor be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Fingerlakes, Inc.)  PO Box 6544, Ithaca NY 14851-6544. A box will also be available at the pavilion should anyone want to consider a donation to Taylor’s grieving husband John to help him navigate this difficult time.
