Vincent Johnson, Jr.
Age 80, formerly of Dundee and recently Watkins Glen, passed away Friday, January 4, 2008 at Schuyler Hospital, Montour Falls, NY.
There are no prior visiting hours. Committal services with military honors were held at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 10:00 at Good Samaritan Baptist Church, Dresden, NY.
Vincent honorably served his country as a Corporal during WWII in the US Army. Born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Vincent Johnson, Sr. and mother Helen, he married Lillian McCandless, his wife of 57 years. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Baptist Church, of Dresden, NY. He retired from the NY State Experimental Station in Geneva, NY. Vince was well known for many years in the Dundee area with his plumbing and heating business.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Johnson; three sons, Vincent (Lynn) Johnson, of Wolcott, David (Jeanne) Johnson, of Reading Center, and Mark (Lorry) Johnson, of Watkins Glen; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother John, and grandson Noah.
