Walton Bertrand Baldwin
Of Burdett, NY and formerly of Elmira, died December 25, 2009 after an extended illness. He was born December 25, 1926 to George and Bernadine (Apgar) Baldwin. Walt was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Blanche Baldwin, on September 26, 2009. He is survived by his four children, Michael (Judi) Baldwin of Amesville, Ohio, Daniel Baldwin of Burdett, NY, Jeffrey (Sue) Baldwin of Burdett, NY, and Michele Baldwin of Watkins Glen, NY. He had four grandsons, Jeremiah, Jacob, Joseph and Jonathon; and four great-grandchildren, Nehemiah, Abigail, Alexandria and Mackenzie. Walt is also survived by his loving sisters, Nancy (Henry) Bellavigna of Burdett, NY and Barbara (David) Stoner of Hartford, NY; brothers-in-law, Richard (Carol) VanDeusen and Robert (Myrtie) VanDeusen of Elmira, NY; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
Walt served his country during World War II. Afterwards, he worked at the Sampson Ordinance in Romulus, NY. Walt went on to earn his degree in engineering from Tri-State University in Indiana. He then went to work for Eclipse in Elmira Heights and stayed with the company through the many changes to Bendix, Facet and Purolator until retirement. After a few years of retirement, Walt needed to keep busy and went to work as night stocker for Acme Market in Watkins Glen, where he made many friends.
He had many hobbies, including coin and stamp collecting, crocheting and Folk Art painting. There are no prior calling hours. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
