Wilfred (“Will”) F. Ross

Age 86, of Burdett, NY, passed away peacefully with his wife Cornelia at his side on June 4, 2024.  

Born and raised in Adrian Michigan Will had a passion for teaching and spent his career in public education.  He started as a science teacher in Little Valley, NY, became a principal at Washington Academy in Salem, NY and finished his career as Superintendent of Schools at Watkins Glen Central School.  Will was a volunteer fireman in Salem and with the Valois-Logan-Hector Vol. Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cornelia (Crowley) Ross; four children, Denise (Jerry) Firlik of Elmira, Daniel (Arlene) Ross of Bolton, CT, Brian (Rebecca) Ross of Watkins Glen and Connelia (Richard) Savage of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, Makayla Swaciak, Madeleine Ross, Abigail Ross, Gracie Ross, Liam Savage, Zoe Savage, and Brody Savage.  

A private funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen.  Memorial donation in his memory may be made to the V-L-H Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 46, Hector, NY 14841 (or online at www.hectorfire.com)  Arrangements with Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home.
