Age 76 of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at his home.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO THE ROYCE-CHEDZOY FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. 4TH ST., WATKINS GLEN ON WEDNESDAY (APRIL 21) FROM 11AM-12PM; A FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 12 NOON; FOLLOWED BY A BURIAL AND COMMITTAL SERVICE AT HECTOR PRESBYTERIAN CEMETERY.
Bill was born at Schuyler Hospital on September 14, 1944 to William J. and Mary Fassett Griffith, who both predeceased him.
Bill loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed attending day services at The Arc in Watkins Glen. Bill loved his community and thoroughly enjoyed his coffee. He loved helping at his home and considered himself a “supervisor”. He knew all staff schedules, what they should be doing and was considered a gentle enforcer, offering to “straighten you up” with his foam hammer. He will be remembered as a kind, loving and gentle man who will be missed by many.
Bill is survived by his sister Sally (James) McMahon and brother Robert (Jill) Griffith, nieces Megan (Andy) Cull and Amy McMahon and nephew Evan Griffith. He is also survived by many friends at The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler.
The family cannot thank enough the staff at The Arc for all they have done for Bill throughout the years. Thanks to the staff at Schuyler Hospital, who took great care of him, especially, Dr. Ben Saks, who spent so much time explaining Bill’s condition and options available to the family. Also, thanks to CareFirst for the support they provided Bill during his last year.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring of 2021. Expressions of sympathy may be written in his obituary at www.RoyceChedzoy.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
