William F. Crans

Age 82, formerly of Elmira Heights and Hector, NY, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 2-4pm and 6-7pm. A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm at the funeral home; Rev. Richard Hack officiating. Burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads on Friday at 10:00am.

Bill was born in Elmira, the son of William and Gladys Crans. He was predeceased by his parents; also wife Marleah Crans in 2003; and grandchildren Elizabeth and Peter Crans. He is survived by his children, Charlene (Theodore) Murdock of Bradenton, FL; Darryl (Sheri) Crans of Big Flats, David (Kathy) Crans of Watkins Glen, and Debbie (E.A) Downey of Salem, VA; sister Marilyn Crans Lindgren of Elmira Heights; grandchildren, Wendy Reid, Kevin Murdock, Jessica Crans, Amanda Crans, Renea Downey, Melissa Downey, and Adam, Rose, Sarah, and Brandi Crans; and special friend Gerald Tobey.

He honorably served in WWII in the US Navy; and retired from Hartinge Brothers in 1984. Bill was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Horseheads, and American Legion Post #154 of Elmira.
