William D. Cross
Age 64, of Alpine, NY, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 24, 2015. A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT WOODLAWN NATIONAL CEMETERY IN ELMIRA AT 1:00PM ON THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 2015, WITH US NAVY MILITARY HONORS ACCORDED. He is survived by long time companion and significant other of 22 years, Judy Allen; parents, Warren and Barbara Cross of Montour Falls; sons, Chad Cross (Jackie Honsberger) of Millport, and Zachary Cross of Watkins Glen; daughter Katrina Cross (Sean Kaczynski) of Williamsport, PA; brothers and sister, Robert Cross of Florida, Marius (Debbie) Cross of North Carolina, Barbara Cross Havens (David) of Florida, Greg Cross of Brooklyn, David (Elizabeth) Cross of Ohio, and Albert Cross of Watkins Glen; three grandchildren, Zane and Axel Cross, and Julia Cross Kaczynski; co-grandparent Sharon Cross; uncle and aunt, Al and Jean Baker of Horseheads; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1968 and joined the US Navy. After the Navy, he worked for Thatcher Glass, where he obtained his Journeyman's mold maker card. He later worked for Schuyler Dynamics as a machinist. He was currently employed at Anchor Glass Container in Elmira Heights in the mold shop. Bill was a proud member of the United Steelworker's Union and participated as a union representative for many years. Bill enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his family, especially his grandchildren. A favorite past-time of his was riding his Harley motorcycle. Bill also enjoyed watching and collecting movies. He will be greatly missed! Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
