William H. Macnamara
Age 88, of Watkins Glen, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2021.
Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Lester and Helen (Renner) Macnamara. He moved his family to Watkins Glen and worked at International Salt Co. for 28 years, retiring in 1996. He honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. Bill and Pat were members of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed traveling and seeing Broadway Shows together. He enjoyed watching baseball and local sports.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Patricia; and her children, Deborah (Bud) Cross, Janice Learn, Kathleen (James) Armstrong, Barbara (Frank) Rossi, Robert (Nancy) Washburn and Amy (Stacey) Becker; sons, William (Penny) Macnamara of Avoca, Neil (Kristin) Macnamara of Worcester, MA., and Christopher (Sarah) Macnamara of Burlington, KY; also eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two nephews, Richard and William Macnamara. He was predeceased by his first wife of 34 years, Jeannette; daughter Beth Ann Macnamara; and brother Paul.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Friday (Aug. 20) from 6pm-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Watkins Glen on Saturday at 1:00pm. He will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen, with military honors.
